Measles is a highly contagious viral infection, also referred to as morbilli/rubeloa. The infection is caused by the Measles virus. One of the first known symptoms displayed is a fever; usually higher than 104ᴼF/40ᴼC. Other symptoms include a runny nose, coughing and red eyes. Shortly following the initial signs, there will be white rashes forming on the inside of the mouth. These rashes are referred to as Koplik’s spots. During the measles infection, victims usually see other rashes appear on the face and the body within five days of the onset of the first symptoms. The confirmed cycle of the complete measles virus is around two weeks. The symptoms are known to show up between ten to twelve days after being exposed to someone who is infected and can last up to 10 days after infection. An infected person is also known to suffer additional complications from being infected with the virus. A few of these complications are an Inflammation of the brain, Pneumonia, Diarrhea and Blindness.
