A tale of survival.

Sarah is alone on Skip Away, blasting sub-light in the direction of civilization, towards 55 Cygni, too far away to be rescued. As time passes - she has now been missing for over a year – her resources dwindle, her equipment begins to fail, and Skip Away's systems begin to break down. The frigid vacuum of space is closing in, and Sarah begins to lose hope of rescue and survival.

Stress, starvation, and radiation begin to tell, and Sarah's health and ability to move, think, and function all decline. The situation becomes dire. But she recognizes her pessimism and learns to ignore it because what else can she do?

She wants to live.

Jimmy begins to lose hope. By now, Sarah and her ship and crew have been missing for years. He takes his first vacation, a trip to Hawai on old Earth. On the way, he looks for Sarah and fails to find her. But he discovers something important – all these years, his methods have been flawed. He thought he was searching as well as possible. He discovers he was wrong.

The explosive climax and conclusion follow.
