BEING KIND CAN REAP DIVIDENDS THAT PAY. “Miracle City” is a story which tells a saga of kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion. Miracles are not the sole province of the religious or the pious. The story of “Miracle City” is the tale of a small town that will warm your heart and make the reader feel privileged to see a legacy of kindness. This is a short story that takes place in two eras; a story of old and a story of today. Maurine is a little girl who lived in a time in this country’s history when brother fought brother during The Civil War; and an act of kindness that transcends the ages into present day.
The storyline is intertwined to incorporate the old (Civil War times) and the new (present day). A simple act of kindness, with the help of a divine hand, moved through the ages into modern times. “Miracle City” is the end product of what Maurine did those many years ago that cemented her memory in the annals of the town, and in the hearts of its citizens. The simple act that she spearheaded was not something that would have been looked upon as the right thing to do during that time in history. All readers of this story will find themselves intertwined in a saga that will make them think of the principles she exhibited as heroic. She was a pathfinder in a confused world.
Mystery, intrigue, suspense, and apprehension are some of the feelings that the reader will experience during the historical portion of the story. Then fast forward some one hundred fifty-three years into the future when the modern Miracle City deals with the results of what Maurine started. Follow a family as they look forward to a gift that comes like clockwork during certain times of the year.
