When Det. Ty Connell picks up word of an active crime scene on the police band on his drive in to work, he decides to swing by and have a quick look. When he gets there his sometimes partner, John Henry Morgan, is already on the scene and dealing with it.
When he realizes that it’s ‘Slim Vinnie’ Momesso lying on the garage floor at the big estate home, and that it’s one hundred per cent a mob hit, he loses all interest. But when Morgan starts to work the case, he begins to hear strange rumors. That it might have been a woman who ordered the hit. And not an enraged wife or lover. Some mystery woman with enough clout in the mob underworld to order a hit. But what kind of woman could order a hit on a mob wiseguy? There's only one. The shadowy and mysterious figure known as Momma Lupe comes to light. The case then catches Connell’s full attention. But who is Momma Lupe and what's her game? When Connell finds out how truly evil and far-reaching this woman is, he vows to shut her down.
