Mr Dickens

Davey is eleven years old when he picks up a book at a flea market. And it’s not just any book. This one is handwritten and very old. Inside it says:

The Journal of Charles Dickens

An Account of My Travels Around London in Search of Little Nell 

Davey has never heard of Mr. Dickens, but something about the words, the pictures, and even the smell of this book draw him in....and then draw him through.

In a blink, Davy finds himself on the dirty, dangerous London waterfront, where he meets a friendly young pickpocket named Dodger and an ugly, angry dwarf named Quilp. They both warn him about the man with eyes like a raven who stalks the streets; he sucks the souls of the less fortunate and deposits them into the stories he writes.

The book draws Davey deeper into the forgotten world of Dickens’ England, until finally Davy comes face to face with the great man himself. Can a small boy from Ohio change the heart of one of the most popular writers of the English language?
