The Urban Local Government in India is a primary agency providing basic services to the citizen. After 74th constitutional amendment, it drew the attention of citizen in the arena of civic services with quality. The various researches in this area indicate that their performance of the Local Government is not satisfactory due to reasons like scarcity of funds, improper management of finances and administrative incapability. In this book, an attempt have been made to understand the organizational, financial, physical and personnel problems related to the Urban Local Bodies. The effort have been made to understand the possible bottlenecks for the effective performance of the Urban Local Bodies specially for Municipal Council, Panchkula. Other core issues plauging the sector i.e. comparing the service delivery with the standards of services specially sanitation, roads, streetlight, parks and fire services have also been taken care of. The objective of the book is to identify the parameters of the efficient financial administration and what administrative measures may be required for improvement of financial resources of Urban Local Bodies. Besides, a conceptual explanation of Urban Local Bodies, it is also an in-depth study to identify the defects within the system and possible remedial measures to correct the same.
