Susan's mother has told her that she was once a spy for MI6. She also mentioned that she'd seen some of her old enemies from the Cold War, lurking around in the village where she lives.

She's asked for Susan's  help in sending out five encrypted emails to MI6, should it become necessary and arranged that she would send her an sms, in the event of the threat becoming imminent.

Although Susan agreed to do this, she thought the threat existed entirely in her mother's head. This was why she was unprepared for when the sms for help finally arrived one morning, but she nevertheless managed to successfully send off the emails.

After this she got in her car and drove towards her mother's house, but en route she found her mother sitting at the bustop near her house. She was crying and seemed traumatized and unable to answer any questions.

Back at the house, Susan immediately realized why her mother was behaving so strangely, for the police had found three dead men, a lot of blood and signs that a terrible battle had gone on there.

The police told Susan that a team from MI6 would be arriving shortly and when they got there, Harry, a friend of her mother's, told her that the men were all ex-Russian spies who held huge grudges against her mother, for what she'd done during the cold war.

Susan asked him if the threat to her mother was now over and he answered her by saying they would take her and her mother to a safehouse in London, where they would be protected.

But will Mi6 be able to protect them? Or will other men follow to finish off the job? Or will Susan and her mother have to come up with their own plan to keep themselves safe?
