Linda and Nadine are college students.
As college students, they're each on a kind of tight budget. Despite the budget, Linda and Nadine go on a shopping spree. They get some real bargains, but they still spend about $1,000 each. Their parents aren't going to give them each an extra $1,000.
The girls then review their options. A college girl might make $10 per hour and that would require 100 hours of work each, to earn back the $1,000. If they work 100 hours, chances are they both flunk out of school.
They're considering suicide as an option.
Nadine then finds a Halloween party gig at $1,000 each.
After a bit of discussion, it turns out that the girls are to serve refreshments and sort of run games and such. They will, of course, wear costumes. The costumes will consist of just the fancy stiletto heels that they found at a going out of business shoe store sale.
There appear to be three options:
