Z is an engineer working in Denver at neurobotics, the world's leading manufacturer of androids since they released the first NANO-BITS robots in 2026. She and her robot boyfriend Brody have worked together to earn robots almost all the same rights as humans in the United States, but now they are working together to solve a mystery taking place in the neurobotics laboratory.

But when the robots begin to run out of food, Z is no longer sure she can trust Brody. She is forced to leave town with a group of ten including her best friend Jillian and Jillian's girlfriend Kerry, a robot who fits in much better with humans than her own kind. They are offered shelter by an unlikely group of allies, and only then do they learn the truth about the creatures they have unleashed on the Earth.

Warning: Contains language and some situations which may not be appropriate for readers of all ages. Not recommended for children.
