Grace, a waif, is perplexed in the gallows of her jealous and abusive older sister, Clara. We journey through the jagged course of Grace’s life in Lucy C. Baker’s debut novel; No Two Trees Are the Same. Abused and broken, Grace searches for love, hungrily clinging on to anyone who appears slightly attracted to her, rather real or imaginary. Through the phases of her life, the presence of Clara remains burrowed deep in Grace’s psyche as she experiences love, the love of women. Murder, and abuse. Excruciating loss and the pain of phobic disorders she cannot hide. She writes about all of it in dark poetry. Then, on a day when she feels she has had enough, she reaches for a pen to write a biography about her life. And, we wonder, is it truth or, is it a fable? Grace won’t say. She won’t say anything at all.

Lucy C. Baker lives in Texas with her husband, and puppy, Lola.
