Attempts have been made to capture the essence of the war in Iraq through both words and photography, so I thought I’d set about cornering the market on lighthearted cartoons. I can’t draw to save my life, but that didn’t stop me, and thankfully no such demand has yet presented itself. War is serious business, but finding humor in the happenings of life is my specialty, or at least my excuse for not really being good at anything else. Some of the drawings are general observations and others deal with the day-to-day life of our unit. During my deployment with the Army in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I sketched out 100 cartoons over the course of 100 days, and well, here they are, presented not as an encompassing account of activities in theater, but rather a single snapshot from a single perspective, just one look at things.
