Born in the city into a long line of champion show dogs, Patches, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, is adopted by a young couple and whisked away to his new home, a farm in the Midwest. Although most of the animals accept the new puppy, Patches quickly learns that he is expected to live up to their beloved Bear, the old farm dog who has since passed on. Then, an emergency arises and Patches alone can save the day.
