Patty, Prissy, and Pablo Pig have moved from the dusty pig pen in the middle of Piggsburg into their beautiful new home, which will double as a school. Patty is excited about classes in The University of Piggsburg and wants to hear the new school bell that hangs from the recently built cupola atop their house.
Prissy Pig was totally against adding the belfry until Patty suggested her sister could plant purple petunias near the bell. Prissy loves purple petunias more than anything other than eating.
Instead of having two parties, the pigs plan one party to serve two purposes. They will celebrate the birthday of Lester Lobo The Wolf, who has now become a vegetarian, and they will acknowledge the new school when Eduardo Eagle rings the recently hung bell.
Polly Parrot has been instructed to deliver the pink invitations to all their friends in the town and nearby forest. Unfortunately, Prissy Pig forgot to tell Patty Pig to let Polly know that Xavier the Porcupine is not to be invited.
Xavier is thrilled about attending and writes one of his mean-spirited limericks in order to upset Prissy. They have been in a feud for years. When Xavier shows up for the party and reads his limerick, Prissy decides to get even by preparing a special treat for him.
The humongous Eddie Elephant attends and, as usual, makes a humongous mess.
The party is a great success and instructors of language arts concepts finally see the new school room.
As the story ends, Party reminds everyone to come back before Sunday night to pick up their Fall Semester catalogs that list all the classes available. Registration for classes will be on Monday.
The Pig Tales volumes are created by a national award-winning educator and are designed to teach 3rd and 4th grade students various language arts skills through the use of fun characters.
