Playing Dead

 

Just a few days into Frank Samson’s latest locum, Catamaran – a priceless stallion – escapes from his stable and, finding himself free, gallops headlong across country until he falls into an old quarry, injuring himself so badly that Frank has no alternative but to euthanase him. At least that’s the way it looks. But why then, a week or so later, do unknown parties begin to suddenly show a sinister interest in Frank when it becomes known that, on a previous visit to the stables that housed the great animal, he had taken a few souvenir photographs of the world-beating stud horse? His locum takes an even more sinister turn when he is lured by a bogus emergency night call into a deadly trap.
