Introduction

"Dogs are miracles with paws."
- Susan Kennedy

Poodles may be seen as ‘all beauty and no brains. Some have even labeled them proud and high minded…but nothing could be further from the truth!

This breed is highly intelligent, very obedient and active. They are also eager to please and more than willing to give you their affection and care.

And when it comes to perfecting skills, a Poodle can hold its own against any other breed of dog. Perhaps this is one reason why it does so well at dog shows. Poodles have been honored many times at Conformation Shows for their skillful ability. That they manage to do this while looking good is quite a feat!

Their elegant nature has won them many awards and their signature “clippings” is also well known. Over the years they have won the hearts of many owners, and today are considered one of the Top 10 dog breeds by the American Kennel Club. They also make excellent companions and are a great part of any home, especially those with young ones.

In France, Poodles were used as a water retriever. Do you know what this means? The name rather gives it away. This breed was used to “retrieve” objects in the water. For example: When prey fell into the water, the Poodle would return the prey to their owner without damaging it. However, as years went by France loved the breed so much it didn’t take long for the Poodle to become its national breed.

Today, we see Poodles in a lovable light. These elegant creatures are a wonderful example of nature’s diversity and beauty. With intelligent minds and good looks, Poodles have become a part of many homes and hearts. Because of their kind demeanor, they are highly recommended for families with children and will add a wonderful addition to a loving home.
