Memories of growing up in Australia during World War II inspire a story
that weaves in and out of imagination and reality.
For two children in Melbourne, the war is distant and unreal, but, almost
imperceptibly, life is changing around them. Abruptly, they find
themselves evacuated away from a loving family to harsher circumstances
in the country.
Do their experiences destroy or strengthen them? Is this a memoir or is
it fiction? Memories are subverted by the imagination until fact can no
longer be distinguished from fiction.
