This book, the third in the series by Geoff Provis, deals with the social life of Port Isaac and the surrounding villages up until about 1970. The importance of the chapels at Port Isaac, Port Quin, Pendoggett and Trelights and their activities are explored in depth, including the way in which locals enjoyed themselves and played games. Sections dealing with lost societies, community celebrations and local characters complete this volume. Details of the many games played at Port Isaac on the beach, at school and in the village are very interesting. Details of John Wesley’s visits are also detailed. The fate of all chapels except one are another feature of this book. This book contains 200 historic photos to illustrate the text.
