PRAY Nevertheless studies the struggles disciples often experience by praying in faith. Whether through our misunderstanding of prayer, or God’s unwillingness to hear, consider, and answer prayer, Christians can be victims of their faith in God: we know he can help us if he only would. Why doesn’t he will to help?

The first chapter explores the problem of prayer raising questions, not giving answers. Mary and Martha’s request for Jesus to return immediately, and his delay, provides the context. Among the lessons learned from their experience is that terrible things happen to those committed to Jesus; and God’s sovereignty supersedes all human experience.

Chapter two explores the conundrum of prayer. Using illustrations of answered and unanswered prayers, four observations clarify the conundrum.

Chapter three offers suggestions how we can submit to God’s will when it conflicts with ours. The experience Jesus had in Gethesemane established five principles which strengthen our desire to trust God even as he rejects our prayers.
