The story in Book 1 begins with Joy, brilliant, former international model, president of the student body, ousted from the same college in disgrace, in a hearing grotequely unfair. There was a hint of a college secret then being protected. It's existence was over our heads, we didn't recognize hints and clues provided at the time.

We were a long time understanding there was a secret and the secret was everything. To protect the secret the college would fight with everything it had.
