ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, ANOTHER ONES GONE AND ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

The Captain has trapped one more of the plague carrying varmints that we picked up while being on a dock below a hotel in Pender Harbour. Rats! This word alone conjures up images of black menacing figures that slither around corners and climb on to perches above your head so they can jump on your shoulders and bite your ears.

Rat smell is exclusive to themselves and once known you will never forget it or fail to recognize it if you have the misfortune to encounter it again. I was amazed where I got whiffs of eau due rat over the rest of the summer. I sniffed rat in places you don’t want to hear about.

Audrey Eleanor and remnants of her crew are at anchor in Garden Bay in Pender harbour. Remnants because I am not sure that I am intact at this point. This is the second rat that the Captain has captured. How many are left? There is concern that a mortally wounded rodent is withering in the hold, biding his time until he can attack us in the black of night. He received a serious blood drawing bite from the trap but escaped. The second catch shows no signs of being previously wounded. We have no idea how many we have yet to kill.
