Red Hot and Dead

When ceramics professor Michael Windwalker opens a kiln Monday morning he finds charred bones in with the students' pots. Very unsavory information about the victim, Drama professor William Werther, is discovered. His widow can't seem to decide if she's in mourning or celebrating her freedom.

Chris discovers Werther had a long history of inappropriate behavior with female students, most of whom loved the attention. It's only lately that his targets have taken offense. Why? Would a student's baby be a motive for murder or just explain the widow's apparent ambivalence? Did the girl's jilted boyfriend learn what happened and get his revenge?

When Chris discovers a notebook with detailed statistics on Midstate football players and nearly indecipherable codes, the plot thickens and begins to unravel at once. She has to use her head to bring the killer down.
