Regret and Other Stories

This book contains numerous interesting stories related with human behaviour, human socio-psycho-logical character, metabolic change in psyche as well as the impact of socio-political changes of time and situations. It is the hard fact that many stories portrayed have not linked with pragmatism and realism, but fantasy and inordinate ambition of the characters cited in the stories have made it very much adaptive, that is why people love to read and feel joyful. The regret is one of the interesting counterpart of it.
Regret is the story of a man called M. Savel being alone and an old bachelor with nobody around him. Unfortunately, he lost his parents while he was quite immature and unsettled.
Resultantly, his attitude and behaviour became quite indifferent to anything as he possessed nobody to care him. His indifference was the greatest drawback, defect and vice in his life.
Though he came in contact of a girl friend named Saudres, she even loved him with her sweet intonations and charming personality. But due to his dolorous and indifferent characteristic he failed to appease and marry her. Lastly, she became the wife of his close friend.
Once when he aged 62 yrs, reached the girl who herself became a lady of 52 years. She rebuked him frankly in a voice tinged with irony and insult.
He walked from there with giant strides without knowing his destination. He reached an old place where they used to meet in their prime age and wept sitting under a leafless tree. Regretting and regretting………
