Chosen from scores of seasoned warriors, Askrilt is the first Devian released into the world of humans in centuries. In her desperation, the Earth Spirit has allowed the release of this lone warrior and his companion Ooran, a bald eagle, as a champion against a strange and consuming sickness that is devouring person, creature and spirit alike.

Long ago humankind had enjoyed a renaissance of magic, and its power fed the egos of society. A sect of elder druids went so far as to create a warrior race of protectors as proof of their omnipotence and ability to manipulate the power of creation, and they called this new race the Devian. The Earth Spirit, however, was furious with the human abuse of magic and so evoked natural disasters amongst human settlements until finally the Elite Mystics were called upon to find a peaceful solution. Thus the Devianling had been erected, the magical barrier that sealed the Devian race and all magic away from humankind.

Now in the days that are to come, Askrilt must find the companions as told by prophecy and seek out the source of magic reborn, as the land has chosen to birth magic anew into this world. Only together can they heal Mother Nature herself.

Return of an Ancient Race is a fast-paced adventure story of Askrilt’s first encounters in the world of humankind as he embarks on a journey to save both our races.
