Kimi is working hard on Nobel, where the sky is a giant rainbow in honor of the 75th Summer Fest.
Brett is happily assigned as a fourth waver on Castle Verde. Unfortunately, the Castle Corporation lost their lawsuit and must give up Brett's planet as penance. While in space onboard the Castle Hercules bioship, he gets his new assignment: Earth. That doesn't make sense for a fourth waver, who are all about settling newly terraformed planets, but while he's fighting for clarification, Castle Hercules begin breaking up. His life doesn't improve on the evacuations pod, as it fails. Seventeen years later, he crashes on Earth in a remote area of the United States. His memory isn't responding and his nanomeds are failing, letting his body age. The only people who can help him are some people he saved from flesh traders. Meanwhile, this guy, Kimi, is sending him vmails about his lost life. Seems like he's experiencing a seventeen year gap. Nothing makes sense, and yet Kimi and Brett's stories are connected across time and space.
