Who can fail to be struck by the opening words of The Way of a Pilgrim?
By the grace of God I am a Christian man, by my actions a great sinner, and
by calling a homeless wanderer of the humblest birth who roams from place to
place. My worldly goods are a knapsack and some dried bread in it, and a
Bible in my breast pocket. And that is all. (1865)
There is a serious problem in the global world today. Famine, disease, war, greed,
exploitation, suffering… why is it happening with the resources and facilities available to
those with plenty. With inequality and injustice rife especially in those countries in affluence
I ask what is needed is a revolution of the heart to change people for a better future. This is
my perspective on why the Christian faith offers the potential to change people from
examples and open wiki material to showcase where it has happened through testimony and
writings. Before leaving which chapter excepts from my favourite books on the subject as a

Acknowledgements
Before we begin I wish to highlight the influence of my friends and family in my journey
since becoming a Christian, it is through them I have also learned my constant failings and
failures as a person and as a follower of Christ. People are the best teachers and through
helping each other we really help ourselves. In particular my parents and soulfriends Alan
and Ernie who each have shown me what it takes to lead a life of principle and commitment
not only to their own families but the greater responsibility of a global community.
