Rhinehearts Game, Level One Understanding is the first book about Nicolas James Farnsworthwho goes by NJ. He was born with Spina bifida to a large family in a big city where money is scarce. When the new school year started, all the students in the special needs class were issued a laptop computer to help them with their schoolwork. However, when NJ gets home and turns on his computer, he meets a man named Rhineheart inside his computer who introduces NJ to a computer program which takes him into a virtual reality and teaches him skills he needs to live a more enjoyable life in his wheelchair. Once inside the game, NJ finds he can walk, run and play like other children. The people he meets and the skills he learns make it so he will never be the same person again, once he returns to his real life and his wheelchair.
