This book is about a family of hillbillies that live way up in the backwoods of Kentucky. They are so much so, hillbillies, that they do not even know their real names. The father calls himself Papie, and the mother calls herself Mamie. They have a little boy about ten years old, and his name is Jick. They live in a two room shack, with dirt floors. These people are growing, and producing just about everything that you can think of. They are also raising plenty of animals. They are really self-sufficient.
