An attractive and clever college coed is devastated to learn that her fiancé has married another girl in a shotgun wedding. To overcome the heartbreak, Glenda Meadows and her friends hop in her bright yellow 1975 Camaro and cruise the “drag” - the section of Main Street in Dairyville, Texas that runs by Central Texas State University. They get lots of attention and are always on the lookout for fun and adventure. They usually find it, and a whole lot more, almost everywhere they go.

The locals also ride around on “the drag” and are always ready and willing to do just about anything for fun. They often take occasional side-trips through the college. Led by Glenn Allen - nicknamed Evil Knevil for his amazing driving talent in or on anything with wheels, and commonly considered the King of the Drag. The local guys are out almost every night with the goals of raising a little hell and to generally have a good time. Zany, comical adventures happen around every corner and the bonds of friendship are strengthened in surprising and meaningful ways.

In the fall of 1980 gasoline is cheap, cars are fast, and in-car 8-track tape players bring mobile rock & roll music to the out-of-the-way town like never before. It is a special time, when dormitory room doors and windows stay open, cars are left unlocked, and most cops actually have a sense of humor. College and local kids run right into wild and hilarious adventures and have surprisingly tender moments. Crazy stunts, wild chases, entertaining stories, true love, good friends and dreams come true are all found in abundance in Ridin’ Around.
