Eight-year-old Jessica stared out of her bedroom window anticipating her grandmother’s appearance. Grandmother Megan is here, because Jessica’s adoptive parents were killed on the way to see Jessica recite three lines in a Christmas school play. It has only been a week since their burial and now she must move to LA. Along with the burden of the car accident, Jessica is now faced with the fear of living with her grandmother, a woman that she barely knows. Over time, the two become very close, but it was Megan’s last display of love that would change Jessica’s life. Jessica and her fiancé made a promise to Megan, on her dying bed, to find Jessica’s biological parents. After two years and in the beginning of her pregnancy, Jessica decided to act upon her grandmother’s wish.
To Jessica’s surprise, her mother, Tammy, had kept her birth a secret from her husband, Scott. Tammy withheld her secret for twenty-three years and now wished that she could rescind that mistake. The happiness that Jessica’s mother felt toward her arrival is shared with jeopardy to her marriage. Jessica’s arrival represented a second lie to Scott. Tammy had the opportunity to reveal that she had put up twins for adoption when the first twin, Nancy, arrived seven years earlier. Scott felt that there was no excuse for her second secret and as a result, he became withdrawn. His humorous personality was replaced with an anger that announced problems within a marriage that was envied by all.
During Scott’s resolution, a conversation at Jessica’s bridal shower revealed that one of Tammy’s daughters could not be her child. The blood type was not compatible. Tammy is now faced to make another decision between secrecy and revealing the truth that will make matters worse with Scott.
