This book is for young people starting the Christian life, although new Christians of any age should find it helpful. Or maybe you started the Christian life some time ago, but feel you have never really moved forward. Then this book is also for you.
The author, Chris Wright, was brought up in a Christian family where his father was a church minister. But it wasn’t until he was seventeen that Chris realized he had been telling himself for years that to be a Christian he had to try to earn − to somehow deserve − forgiveness and eternal life in heaven.
One night he understood that he could never manage this by his own efforts, but only through accepting − as an undeserved gift − the death of Jesus on the cross to wash away all that was wrong in his life, and then asking to be part of God’s family. And it worked!
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith − and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God − not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Chris Wright is the author of over thirty books, starting with young fiction for an English Christian publisher in 1966. He has written both fiction and non-fiction, mostly with a Christian theme, for a variety of publishers. Chris is married with three grownup children, and lives in the West Country of England where he is a home group leader with his local church.
