More than just the weather is heating up this particular summer of Alice King’s life, and she never expected the inferno that would grow from her decision to research into a missing person case closed by the police over a decade earlier…
Set in contemporary New Zealand, Summer of Fire is the story of a young woman’s search to discover her true identity. Little does she realise upon embarking on her quest the implications that the truth she unravels will have on her friends and family.
When Alice kicks off her kiwi summer with a road-trip to her partner’s hometown, (the fictional town of Tāoniti, in the Bay of Plenty) to meet his parents and attend a wedding, she is not prepared for the stir that her very presence will create within the town. However, after a subtle push in the right direction by a middle-aged eccentric, Alice’s curiosity is ignited by the disappearance of a young girl that occurred over two decades earlier. Under the guise of furthering her journalism career, Alice launches an investigation into the life, and suspected death, of a woman whom she believes may be her biological mother.
Not knowing just how complicated the truth surrounding the missing girl, Ash Stewart, will prove to be, Alice finds her entire life turned upside-down within the space of one summer.
Feedback for 'Summer of Fire':
"I loved it – I finished it last night – I couldn’t put it down. Pulled me in at the beginning, kept me reading, I identified with Alice and wanted to know her story... A great chick lit, easy read but lovely language and really well written and a mystery to boot!" - Rebekah Bourhill, Business Owner
"I WANT MORE!! It's got me intrigued." - Toni Dickson, Interior Designer
