This is my story, a memoir told in first person of my near death, long illness and finally, survival against all odds in 1992. Most of the action takes place in the hospital where I underwent multiple surgeries, almost died, had an out of body experience, interacted with my wife, my doctors and nurses, often under heavy sedation and pain killing drugs. In the book I recall my days and nights as a network TV news producer for NBC News, mostly in unusual places around the world. It is much the story of my refusal to come to grips with the reality of what happened to me told in free form prose, high flying prose. That I lived is something of a miracle considering my many surgeries. That I continue to this day to direct and write documentary films and books, is a testament to how we as people can will ourselves to overcome adversity.
