Vince Culhane, a burnt out detective, is investigating the disappearance of a virtual- reality computer-game creator, Jeff Sturgess. At the same time, a series of gruesome murders has occurred and Culhane is called in to help track down the killer. With the aid of his teenage, obstreperous nephew, Benny, Culhane embarks on a treacherous quest within a digital world.
