The first three of the Ten Commandments are concerned with our love of God. When Christians keep the first three commandments, they are respecting God. The other seven are about our love of one another. If we follow the next seven commandments, we will be keeping the Sabbath day holy. We will be loving our parents. By not killing we reject violence. Not committing adultery and not desiring other peoples partners. By not stealing. By not telling lies we will be promoting truth. By not coveting other peoples possessions we will be acting against greed and materialism. There is more to the Christian life than simply following the Ten Commandments but they are a beginning of following Jesus. We all have a burden of sin that we carry, but the good news is that Jesus died for the forgiveness of sin. He shed his precious blood on the cross so that you and I can be forgiven of our sins and for that burden to be removed. Christians must always follow the life and example of Jesus.
