The Adventures of Butterbean and the King was a vivid and adventurous story that would make a wonderful children's movie. The characters are colorful and very easy to imagine. The dialogue between the insects is fun and creative. Butterbean and the King is a fanciful tale that integrates a nice amount of educational information about ants and other insects without sounding like a boring textbook. Kids would glean a lot of scientific knowledge from the story while laughing out loud at Butterbean's jokes and sitting on the edge of their seat, to see if the two comrades can escape the evil clutches of the horned toads. The Adventures of Butterbean and the King would make a great story for any home or school library collection. It has a great ending while leaving the reader in suspense for the next great tale of Butterbean and the King.
