Adam Verlain's father died in a robbery, when he was fifteen, so he used his love of books to hide from the world, something his job as a rare book cataloguer for a small university in London was perfect for. But then that university acquired a newly discovered 1865 edition of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and they wanted him to fly to Los Angeles and pick it up. But thanks to Casey, his careful, cloistered world crashes into a chaotic mix of a too-cool henna artist, her demon toddler, her fan-boy husband, a protective mother, a drill-sergeant stylist, questionable edibles, two mistaken identities, hysterical fans, Hollywood royalty, their courtiers and minions, maniacal LA drivers, an outlandish party, a drowning pool in Beverly Hills, a love-struck panther on a homemade veldt, 50 cans of salmon, a bubble bath...and the terrifying realization he’s fallen in love with a woman every man in the world desires, whom he knows he cannot trust...and could never love him back.
