The Alphabet Monster is a story about friendship. The Monster is a funny looking fellow with very discriminating taste. Hes hungry and wants to eat any animal that begins with the letter A. Initially, he encounters many animals, but none of them begin with the letter A. Finally, he sees an alligator coming out of the water and thinks he finally has his letter A meal. But, the alligator, being a very clever fellow, goes back into the water, because he knows the monster cant swim. The monsters efforts are not thwarted as he runs down the bank of the river to cross the bridge and catch the alligator on the other side. However, the monster falls into the water and yells for the alligators to help. The alligators save the monsters life. The Alphabet Monster is so grateful that he vows to not eat animals, and to this day, the monster and alligator are very best friends.
