The Anchor Cross is an action packed novel based in Harlan County, Kentucky. Hiking in a remote area, a child discovers a beautiful golden anchor cross that was brought into Harlan County in 1798. The artifact is constructed of pure gold that is traced back to having been blessed by Christ and given to St. Peter to help start the church. Very mysterious and unexplainable events seem to occur to those possessing the cross. J. Bert Sterling, Sheriff of Harlan County, becomes involved in solving the story behind the cross, and also finds that it was responsible for preventing a multi-million dollar bank robbery that was planned to steal monies placed in the bank by Eastern Kentucky's most notorious drug dealer, Pretty Boy Maggard. Even the sheriff's cat, Preacher Puss, gets in on the action. The author's cast of characters exhibit mountain humor at its best. One reviewer of the book stated, "The book is great. I was quickly engrossed with the story line." The book weaves fact and fiction with a lot of nostalgic anecdotes. It will leave you with a grin on your face and a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart.
