This is a creative alteration of the Norse mythological tale of the binding of the wolf, Fenrir, who is known as Varg in the Bluebell Kildare Series. The myth depicts Fenrir as a dangerous monster who comes to the attention of the Norse God Odin when it's prophesied that Fenrir will eat Odin. Odin, fearing his own demise, sets on a dark and cowardly course.

The events begin well before The Light Who Shines, but The Binding of the Wolf is best read after The Light Who Shines as it provides the backstory for the much loved character, Varg. In my mind Varg has always been Fenrir.

Warning: This story can be read before The Light Who Shines as a teaser to the series. However, it’s not meant as a stand alone and will not feel satisfying until you have read The Light Who Shines.

This short story is just under three thousand words and because of the mythological origins of Fenrir it’s told in the tone of a fairy tale. In fact, it has quite a different flavor than rest of the Bluebell Kildare Series, which is told in a more typical Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance fashion. I’ve published this story at the passionate behest of my readers, but in the future it may become the prologue of a novella.
