"The Great War was a cruel place for a man to seek his true self. The soldier was not sure he had found it yet."

The year is 1916. In the War to End All Wars, a South African infantryman wakes up dazed and confused on a battlefield in France to find he is the last man alive. Fearing that he has witnessed the aftermath of some secret and terrible weapon of war the soldier seeks a way back to friendly lines and report what he has seen. Armed with only his rifle and his sense of determination his journey across war-torn France reveals that the situation might be even more dire than he had realised.

With a growing need to find answers the soldier comes to accept that he has only himself to rely on. Far from home and on the edge of hope he must take to the skies to have any chance of making his way back to the wife and child he left behind. A story of one man's impossible task of resisting the call of the void against humanity's greatest fear.
