White Hawk was a hunter. He lived in the forest where were different kinds of animals. He was one of the most skillful and lucky hunters and every day he returned from the chase with a large spoil. There was no forest too gloomy for him to enter, and no trace made by the beast of any kind which he couldn't follow. One day he went to travel through an open wood, which enabled him to see a great distance. Finally, he saw a wide plain, covered with long blue grass, and enameled with flowers of a thousand lovely tints. He enjoyed this beautiful plain. But suddenly when he came through the plain he heard something. It was the faint sounds of music in the air. He looked up in the air where the magic notes were coming from and he saw a small object, like a little summer cloud that approached the earth, floating down from above
