The Clendenin Massacre

When sixty Shawnee Indians led by their chief, Cornstalk, arrive unannounced at the Clendenin farmstead in Virginia, the family hesitantly offers their home and food in a gesture of friendship and peace. But things quickly go horribly wrong, the event forever becoming an important part of the annals of colonial America, even spurring the King of England to issue a historical proclamation. The story is also about a woman, Ann Clendenin; a pioneer, a wife, a mother and a farmer. Her actions and courage, in the midst of incredibly frightening and difficult circumstances, made her an American heroine.
