Author is a rising star: In 2011 author was selected for Ebony's Power 100 and TheGrio’s 100 lists of African American leaders. She is also a 2011 recipient of a MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Grant. As former chair of the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan, Miles also has access to the large university community in Ann Arbor.
