A deep space exploration team saves a miner and an orphanage from a horrific alien attack. With their ship damaged by the battle, they land on a distant, uninhabited planet and discover a single ancient artifact - a ringed fortress of unknown purpose buried deep in a rock mountain.

In the fortress, they discover what may be a portal to a new world - too good to be believed. On their side of the portal the planet is lifeless, barren, rocky, with howling winds and tremendous lightning storms. On the other side of the portal is a gorgeous, lush world that appears to make humans younger, stronger and is populated by small, mischievous, teddy-bear like guardians.

Plots intertwine and tighten their stranglehold when the alien beasts they first fought locate them on the planet and pursue them at every turn. Colonies of the dreaded aliens destroy every human inhabited planet including Earth.

With a damaged ship that cannot fly, no food, no water and no salvation, where can they go? When placed into ever increasing, imminent, mortal danger, the humans must choose a final stand and make a desperate choice.
