Owain, brought up by a former prostitute in a remote mountain village in Albany, finds himself rejected and despised by the rest of his community, including the father of Mairi, the girl he loves. Forced to compromise his principles to achieve his objective to lead his Church to victory against the hated Sidhe, the fairies of Celtic legend, Albrecht allies with Chrosal, the King's half-brother, to investigate the killings.
