Hans Christian Andersen was one of the most famous Danish authors of XIX century. He wrote plays, novels and poems but most people know him as the outstanding author of the fairy tales. His stories are very popular among people of any age and nationality. His most famous fairy tales - “The Little Mermaid”, “The Snow Queen”, “The Ugly Duckling”, “The Emperor's New Clothes” - teach us a lesson of virtue, kindness and wisdom. “The Emperor's New Clothes” was first published in 1837. This is a short tale about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those who are stupid and incompetent. When the swindlers report that the suit is finished, they dress the Emperor and he marches before his subjects. The citizens pretend that they see the Emperor's new clothes. And only one little boy said that the Emperor is naked. The Emperor suspects that it's true, but continues the procession.
