Can someone be drawn to something by an unseen force? Author Madison Areis would tell you that it is very possible. In fact, she would even tell you that it had happened to her. Her new home had done that very thing to her. She had no idea what it was about the house but something attracted her to it. She bought the large house so that she could have her sisters living under the same roof as her and so she could help them as they had helped her. She helped her sister, Jenna, fulfill her dream of owning her own bookstore and played matchmaker for her sister, Melody.
After she purchased the house, she learned that there was an angry entity in her home that was determined to turn her life upside down. It eventually comes out that Madison has a previous connection to the house and that the spirit is out for revenge. He wants to get back at her for something that occurred when she was very young. It is something that she had no memory of doing.
The largest portion of her memories came from a house fire that occurred when she was a teen. She could never forget it because she constantly has to deal with the sight of the physical scars that she sees every time she looks in the mirror. It also led to a deep seeded fear of fire that she can't shake and she can't explain it to people without reliving the whole event.
Between the entity and the scars from the fire, Madison begins to think things can't get any worse. She soon learns that her ex-fiancé, Paul, has followed her and is determined to get her back. Not only does he try confronting her but he also tries to bully his way past her friend, Hunter. However, his antics do not prevent her from falling for Hunter. When Paul learns of her relationship with Hunter, he tries chasing him away by bringing up her fear and her scars. When that does not work, he tells Hunter that she has been lying to him.
As she battles her fear, the entity, and Paul she finds that she has a strong support system in Hunter and her sister, Melody. But is it enough to help her when she learns that her other sister, Jenna is not as supportive as she thought?
