Charles Godfrey Leland was an American journalist, traveler and writer. First of all he was considered as a writer of humor and folklorist genre. Traveling around the world he collected numerous stories and legends which became a primary part of his literary works. The “Girl-Chenoo” retells the reader about an ancient legend of snow girl that was destined to bring under the power of an evil snow spirit. Having heard this story the Indians left the place where it occurred since the legend says of a small part of the dead body that might have remained capable of killing all whom she met.
