Brian Wilson is one of the original Beach Boys members and is most well known for his genius in song writing. Brian, along with his two brothers Dennis and Carl, were teenagers in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. They formed a band with their cousin Mike Love and high school friend Al Jardine, a band which would later take the nation by storm with their passionate surf songs and California dreams. Fueled by waves, girls, and sports cars, The Beach Boys became famous in the sixties for their upbeat pop and rock music.
His life taken over by depression, alcohol, and drugs, Brian Wilson, the acclaimed genius of The Beach Boys, caved under pressure. He did not finish Smile and spent many years as a recluse. Eventually, a psychologist named Eugene Landy helped him recover, but then took advantage of his position and manipulated Brian until the early 1990’s. When Landy was kicked out, Brian was free to make a full recovery and went on to finish his Smile album as well as reunite with the surviving Beach Boys for a fiftieth reunion.
This unofficial short biography recounts the good, bad and ugly of Wilson's life.
