Mem's cousin Linda is extraordinary and a grand storyteller. Every story comes alive and Mem soon learns a lesson in friendship and how things are not always what they appear to be.

Hare remembered when the fairy house circus first came to the fields near their home, all those years ago. He remembered the first time the magician walked out of the fairy house door and immediately grew into a giant human. He remembered how the magician sweet-talked him into working with him, and how Hare would be very well paid with carrots, lettuce, and cabbage, and would live in style with his own servant to feed and care for him. He remembered the magician played on Hares ego telling him audiences all over the world who would love him.

Hare remembered also how Badger warned him to be wary of sweet-talking humans. Especially those who promise you quick and easy wealth and comfort, those quick-rich schemers.
